Canada and the United States seem to be moving in inverse directions with regards to visas for foreign entrepreneurs hoping to manufacture and develop high-potential new companies.

In the U.S., the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is proposing to dispense with the Obama-period IER, which would have offered brief stay arrangements to foreign business people with promising start-up thoughts.

The National Venture Capital Association based in Washington D.C condemns the proposition to scrap the International Entrepreneur Rule and calls it “limited” and a “major mix-up”

Canada’s Start-Up Visa made permanent this year
