Canada Express Entry is an official immigration system, started by the Canadian Government which selects skilled workers for Canada’s Federal Economic Programs. It was launched on 1st January 2015. It is regarded as the most brilliant and organized point-based immigration system. This program selects the most skilled and talented immigrants for Permanent Resident Visa which is based on the needs and requirements of the job market.There are three types of Express Entry Programs for aspiring immigrants.

Those are:

  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program: This is the most popular immigration program which is designed by the Canadian Government to offer a permanent settlement to the potential immigrants on the basis of their skills, abilities and talent. It is a point based program that requires you to score at least 67 points to qualify for the Visa. The points are based on your Education, Work Experience, Age, Language skills (English or French) and Skills.
  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program: This program is for the candidates who are qualified and skilled trade workers and wish to migrate to Canada as a Permanent Resident after receiving an employment offer letter. The Canadian Government approves around 3000 applicants every year.
  • The Canadian Experience Class: After spending some time in Canada on a Visitor Visa or a student visa and you have the required skills experience and the required language skills (English or French), you can apply for a Permanent Resident Visa under the Canadian Experience category. But you shouldn’t have any plans of living in the Quebec Province of Canada.

Canada Express Entry Eligibility Requirements

  • Provide your IELTS Score result. The test results are valid for 2 years.
  • Overseas candidates need to get their Educational Certificates assessed by ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) to check if their Education is as per the Canadian Standards. ECAs are valid for 5 years.
  • An applicant needs to apply for the Express Entry Canada Visa and submit an EOI (Expression of Interest).
  • The applicant needs to get a score of 67 points given on the basis of their Age, Work Experience and Language Skills (English and French) to be able to apply for the Express Entry System.
  • An applicant needs to provide a Good Health record and Character Certificate (zero Criminal Record) once the ITA (Invitation to Apply) is issued for the Permanent Resident Visa.

 Canada Express Entry Draw

IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) launches a draw that is known as the Canada Express Entry Draw to select the best candidates for the issuance of an Invitation to apply (ITA) for the Permanent Resident Visa. The applicants who meets or exceeds the benchmark set by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) become eligible for the Invitation to Apply by IRCC.

How to apply for the Canadian Express Entry System:

The application process has two important steps:

1.Aspiring immigrants can complete their express entry profile by providing the following details:

  • Skills
  • Work Experience
  • Language Skills (English and French)
  • Education details
  • Other details needed by the IRCC

2. Candidates will be invited through Federal Provincial Nominations or with a valid job offer.

A candidate gets additional points apart from Age, work experience and language skills, for:

  • A valid Job Offer from a company which is listed under the Labour Market Impact Assessment of Canada Or
  • A Canadian province or territory nomination.

Canada Express Entry Points Calculator

  • Total points allotted for the Canada Express Entry Program is 1200. Which depends on different categories such as, age, education, etc.
  • A maximum of 40 points if the candidate has an accompanying spouse or common-law partner.
  • If the Candidate holds at least one year of Canadian job experience, then he will be rewarded bonus points.
  • A candidate will be awarded a maximum of 100 points for Transferable skills which can be used in Technical and Non- technical jobs.

How to Prepare for the Express Entry

  • IELTS: International English Language Testing System is a test required for in order to apply for the PR Visa.
  • Credential Assessment: ECA or the Education Credential Assessment is necessary in order to know the equivalency of your Educational Certificates as per Canadian Education Standards.
  • Employment Documents: Determining how to obtain references supporting your resume that could be useful for job search during the Permanent Resident Visa Process for Canada.
