Canada has widened its horizon of diversity by allowing people from different cultures across the globe to immigrate to this North American country, which shows the pro-immigrant nature of the Canadian government

The share of immigrants in Canada has experienced an upward swing over the century.

The latest census data shows that one in every five Canadian citizens is immigrant. Most of which are permanent residents of Canada. The figure touches to 1.2 million when it comes to PR holder immigrants in Canada. This is the data between the year 2011 and 2016.

It is noticeable here that, in 2017 so far, Canada has allowed more than double immigrants to move in with comparison to the previous years.

This has given rise to the language spoken in Canada to 140 in numbers and also the visible minorities has grown to 22% of the total population.

The data predicts that the share of immigrants may increase to 30% of the total population in next 20 years if the same trend continues.

Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal are the major cities to attract the newcomers. Toronto the largest city in Canada comprised of 49% immigrant population.

The census data shows Canada to be a welcoming country for immigrants.
