More than 91,000 applications have been submitted through the new online Arrima portal since it opened in last September. “Arima “was introduced to manage profiles submitted under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. It was switched to an EOI (Expression of Interest) system by the previous government.

The Quebec Skilled Worker Program requires candidates to submit an EOI (Expression of Interest), where the interested candidate has to create a profile and the same will be entered to the bank of candidates for QSW program.

The profile contains candidate’s information regarding education, work experience, proficiency in languages (English, French), the area of training etc. These are some of the factors which are considered for getting an invitation to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de selection du Quebec or CSQ).

Quebec’s Immigration Ministry has yet not started issuing invitations to candidates those who have submitted profiles through Arima portal.  There’s a backlog of around 18,000 applications which were submitted to QSW program previously on first-come, first-serve basis model has been proposed by the CAQ government to dismiss all the pending applications and to focus on EOI submitted through Arima portal.

On the other hand, Quebec’s immigration lawyer association AQAADI has asked the immigration ministry to reconsider the controversial move and fast-track the backlogged applications instead.
