A million more new permanent residents will be admitted to Canada in the coming three years from 2019 to 2021 as announced by IRCC (Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada) on 31st October 2018.

The target of 2019 has been kept of 330,800, with another 341,000 and 350,000 respectively for the years 2020 and 2021. Approximately 58 percent of the immigrant population is set to be admitted as economic migrants. The most popular and well-known of these are the federal economic programs managed by Express Entry system which are namely Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

The figure of new immigrants to Canada through PNP will also increase year-on-year. Canada’s provinces are welcoming applications with the ever-growing range of PNP streams from which some are aligned with Express Entry.

Apart from this, the country is also planning to welcome 270,500 spouses/common-law partners, dependent children, parents & grandparents of the permanent residents and Canadian citizens under its Family Class program in the coming three years.

The 2019-2021 figures of the Canadian Immigration plan do not include International students and temporary foreign workers who are expected to move to Canada during this time.
