As per a report conducted by the New Brunswick Multicultural Council (NBMC), the province will lose nearly 110,200 workers by 2026 as its population ages and will permanently leave the workforce.

The NBMC says, the federal government of Canada needs to work with the province to increase the population of New Brunswick’s annually by one percent through immigration. This increase in immigration will almost double the current annual rate of the province and represent around 7500 newcomers every year.

The report also showed that all new net entrants to the labor market across Canada from 2013 to 2018 were all immigrants. The report highlighted the fact that immigration was responsible for labor market growth in New Brunswick in 2013 and 2017. The province needs to adopt more immigration objective that will not only meet its population needs but will also help to flourish the economy of the province.
