Canada unveiled its immigration plans to allocate one million permanent resident visas to immigrants between 2018 and 2020. First of its kind multiyear immigration plan by IRCC.

Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada have declared to intake nearly one million immigrants between 2018 and 2020 under a multiyear immigration plan defined as “the most ambitious immigration level in recent Canadian history” by Immigration minister’s Canada, Ahmed Hussen.

Economic migrants are expected to make the most of this new multi-year Immigration levels plan by Express Entry immigration selection system. The target for economic as well as express entry category immigrants will increase every year.

The plan is to provide 310,000 new Canadian PR visas in the year 2018 and increase the numbers to 330,000 and 340,000 in the year 2019 and 2020 respectively.

“This historic multi-year immigration levels plan will benefit all Canadians because immigrants will contribute their talents to support our economic growth and innovation, helping to keep our country at the forefront of the global economy,” stated Immigration Minister Hussen at a press conference in Toronto.

The decision for a multi-year immigration plan is taken by IRCC after consulting the Provincial government and business community in Canada. The decision will allow stakeholders to plan for appropriate service levels and use of resources.

The ambitious plan was tabled in the House of Commons on November 1, 2017.
