On Thursday, May 6 at 12 p.m. (EST), IRCC will begin accepting applications for its six new limited time immigration pathways.
The application guide will be released by IRCC on Wednesday, May 5 at 12 p.m. EST.
On 4 May, IRCC had a meeting with the Canadian Bar Association’s Immigration Law Section and other associations representing immigration lawyers and consultants.
In this meeting, IRCC provided a sneak peek at what essential workers and international graduates should expect on Thursday.
Once the candidates enter the application portal, they will be welcomed by a wizard who will determine their qualifications for the six new streams.
Several forms, including the IMM 0008 Generic Application Form, must be completed electronically by candidates. Candidates are free to submit their signatures electronically. They are not required to print, sign, and scan the forms.
Each stream will have its own set of specifications for documents. Candidates will be prompted to upload the documents they need.
Candidates will be asked to click a blue “Submit your application” button after they have completed their applications. Each submission will be counted against IRCC’s various quotas for the following streams:
The candidates must submit the required documents. However, IRCC will provide guidance if applicants are unable to submit the documents.
In 2021, IRCC intends to process 40,000 permanent residence applications across the sources. This indicates that most of the applicants will be granted permanent residency in 2022.
More information will be available in the application guide, candidates may determine documents they will be asked to submit as well as other crucial information. Furthermore, Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino will hold a press conference on 5 May at 3:45 p.m. EST.
