Basic Requirements for Canada Express Entry

You need to have a full time skilled work experience of at least 12 months or an equal amount of time in part time hours, in Canada. This experience has to be in the last 3 years of your application. There needs to be proper authorization for the experience gained by you. You need to meet the required language criteria needed for your job in listening, speaking, writing and reading. Work experience gained while you were enrolled in a full time course or self employment is invalid under this program. Express entry is not followed in Quebec as the authorities there select skilled workers on their own.

There are three types of skilled work experience. Managerial, Technical jobs which also includes skilled trades and professional jobs. The experience shown should be at least 30 hours per week of full time employment or an equal amount of time in part time hours. So in a year you need to have completed 1560 hours. There is a requirement that you need to show in your NOC that you fulfilled your duties and responsibilities. Do highlight the main duties and the accomplishments. There are no educational requirements for Canadian Experience Class Express Entry.
If you are married or live with a foreign national partner (common-law) in Canada, and that person also meets the above conditions, you can decide who should apply under Express Entry as the main applicant. Canadian Experience class but a degree or diploma, or its foreign valid equivalent can surely help in gaining points for education under Express Entry. In case you are married and your wife too meets the criteria required, then you can decide who will be the principal applicant under Express Entry. This is applicable even in the case of living with a common-law foreign national in Canada. This may refer to both same- sex and opposite-sex couples.
