Nova Scotia announces New PNP Stream for Doctors

Nova scotia PNP

A new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has been launched specially for doctors by the east coast province of Nova Scotia. Apart from the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP), the new stream for Physicians enables doctors to streamline their immigration process. With this new Physician Stream under (NSNP), foreign doctors will be able to speed up their immigration process and can become Canadian Permanent Residents. A foreign national must have a valid job offer in hand from Izaak Walton Killam Health Center (IWK) or Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) to be eligible for the Physician Stream.

This stream will basically help the Nova Scotia’s public health authorities IWK Health Center and NSHA to hire family physicians, specialist physicians, and general practitioners to work in Nova Scotia. The stream also helps the IWK and NSHA to recruit physicians with required skills for the positions which were not been filled with a Canadian Citizen or Permanent resident. The potential immigrant will be eligible and can apply for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Nova Scotia, once he/she clears through IWK and NSHA hiring process.

Eligibility :

  • The Physician Stream is specifically open to Family physicians, General Practitioners (NOC 3112), and Specialist physicians (NOC 3111) with approvals that are signed by Nova Scotia Health Authority and IWK Health Center.
  • The approved opportunity must be on official letterhead of IWK and NSHA – signed and approved by the authorized person to hire physicians at NSHA or IWK.
