Australia is becoming a more popular destination for international students. Apart from its scenic beauty and quality of life, the country is also popular for quality education and the different courses that are offered by the universities of Australia.

As per a report released by TESQA (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency), international students opt for different courses compared to that of domestic students. There are more international students who have enrolled in Management and Commerce as compared to domestic students, with just 15% enrolment for the same.

In 2016, as per the report, 49% of the international students were studying Management or Commerce. Some more popular courses among international students are:

  • Food, Hospitality and Personal services
  • Engineering and other related technologies
  • Information and Technology

There was an increase of 60% enrollment in Food, Hospitality and Personal services from 2013 to 2016. As per a study, there were more than 400,000 international students in Australia in the year 2017. The education sector has been the largest revenue generating sector so far.

The maximum overseas students in 2016 were from China. Nearly, 38% of international students were Chinese and 16% of the international students were from India.  New South Wales has 30% and Victoria has 36% of international student population both are the most popular locations for international students in Australia.
