Prince Edward Island’s latest PNP draw sent out 161 invites

On the 19th of August, Prince Edward Island (PEI) focused attention by hosting its frequently conducted Provincial Nomination Program’s draw involving sending out invites to potentially interested candidates culminating in a volume of 161. Such PEI PNP draws are often held on a monthly basis throughout the province.

Out of the total amount of invitations, the Labor Impact and Express Entry streams withheld a total whopping volume of 152 invites. The rest of the nine invites were streamlined onto those belonging to the sub-category of the Business Impact stream whereby the minimum cutoff score was considered to be 75 points as per the immigration system curated by the province.

When calculating the cumulative volume of invites sent out by the Maple country’s maritime province, this draw was accounted to be the eighth one and resulted in this year’s invite total to be around 1190.

Just like the PNPs held throughout Canada, PEI’s PNP draw is also an initiative conducted by the province and associated authorities into focusing their attention on potentially suitable candidates and applicants who might be able to satisfy and meet the future requirements of the province’s labor market thereby filling in laborforce gaps prevalent there. Such draws are bound to be following and standing strongly by the guidelines that have been approved on a federal basis.

A similar draw will be held once again on the 16th of September, this year.

What is the Express Entry pathway of the PEI PNP?

The PEI PNP is considered to be more advanced than the others hosted throughout Canada and hence gets automatically linked to the Express Entry system liable alongside the Federal government. Hence, to be taken into consideration during their application process, interested applicants will have to compulsorily create a personal profile indicative of this stream.

Express Entry is a service that manages immigration applications. It processes applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class, which are all economic-class immigration programs.

Eligible candidates are given a CRS score based on their age, work experience, education, and English or French language competency.

Express Entry candidates who are nominated by a province gain an extra 600 points on their CRS score and are practically guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw.

Express Entry candidates must develop an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PNP in order to be eligible for a provincial nomination from P.E.I. The province’s unique points grid is used to assign points to EOI profiles. The candidates with the highest scores are then asked to apply in monthly lotteries.

The Sub-Category of Labor Impact Stream

Foreign nationals who have a valid work offer in P.E.I. and are supported by their company are eligible for the Labour Impact Category. Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate are the three streams.

In order to be considered for a provincial nomination under the Labour Impact Category, candidates in this category must also submit an Expression of Interest.

The Sub-Category of Business Impact Stream

Candidates in the Business Impact Category must meet the provincial minimum score criterion in order to continue with their applications. Every draw has a different score.

The Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business on the island, was used to send the invites in today’s draw.
