Quebec Skilled Worker Program Successfully Receives 5,000 Skilled Worker applications

On August 16, a total of 5000 new applications were submitted successfully to the government of Quebec for immigration to Quebec. The Quebec Skilled Worker Program, under which these applications were made, has reached its intake limit

The Quebec Skilled Worker Program is one of the most popular Canadian Immigration Programs. Candidates may submit an application for a Quebec Selection Certificate. There are designated intake periods during which these applications should be submitted. The second and the last one for 2016 closed within a few hours of opening on August 16.

Interested candidates who accessed the ‘Mon Projet Québec’ site on August 16 were rerouted to a virtual waiting room. This was a first come first served program and only the first 5000 applications were accepted for processing. It hardly took five hours for the intake limit to be filled. The system only receives completely filled application forms, so potential candidates who had prepared well in advance had better chances of submitting the application successfully.
Soon Quebec’s Ministry of Immigration announced that the overall limit of 10,000 applicants for Quebec Skilled Worker Program during the period beginning from April 1, 2016 to Mar 31, 2017, had already been reached.

There are exceptions to this cap limit. Potential candidates with a Quebec based job offer and the residents of Quebec are eligible to apply for Quebec Skilled Worker Program and they can still submit their profiles any time.
There were a few technical glitches when ‘Mon Projet Québec’ was first introduced in January 2016. But Quebec’s immigration authorities spotted these shortcomings at an early stage and took the corrective measures to improve the condition of the website. This also included a new feature called virtual waiting room. After these successful efforts, the website received the maximum intake of 10,000 applications for Quebec Skilled Worker Program, during June 2016 and August 2016, the two intake periods.
