Difference between Canada PGP and Super Visa

 The main difference between the PGP and the Super Visa is that the PGP leads to Canadian permanent residency, while the Super Visa does not. The Super Visa is simply a multiple-entry visa that allows the holder to stay in Canada for up to five years at a time. 

Eligibility Criteria for PGP Canada 

In order to be eligible for the PGP, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  2. You must be 18 years of age or older
  3. You must sponsor your parent or grandparent
  4. You must prove that you can support your parent or grandparent financially 
  5. You must sign an agreement stating that you will provide financial support for your parent or grandparent for a period of 20 years.

The first step in the application process is to fill out the interest to sponsor form. If you are invited to apply to sponsor your parents or grandparents, then submit an online application to become a sponsor and a PR application for parents or grandparents simultaneously. You will need to provide basic information about yourself, your sponsor and your parents or grandparents. While you submit the online application, you will need to include proof of your relationship with the parent or grandparent, proof of financial support, a copy of the sponsor’s Canadian citizenship or permanent residency and some additional documents.

The PGP is expected to sponsor a similar number of people in 2022 as it did in past years. The program will continue to be popular, and there is no reason to expect the number of sponsorships to decrease. Information about the 2022 PGP is not yet available.
