The Government of Quebec has recently started offering a bunch of free French Courses for those potential immigrants wishing to settle down within the location along with guaranteed financial assistance to those clearing all eligibility criteria, as revealed on the 1st of July, 2021. As far as financial assistance is concerned, it has been increased over time and the steps involved in the procurement procedure have been quite simplified as well.

Increased Admissibility

• Those individuals residing abroad and in possession of a Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) now stand a chance to become eligible to access French courses available online along with specific tutoring sessions.

• These French courses available online are also accessible to Asylum seekers.

Enhanced Financial Aid

For those residing in Quebec:

• The standard financial aid provided could be divided into two distinct sections, i.e. for full-time courses, it would range between $188 – $200 per week, while for part-time courses the values would differ between $15 – $25 for each week.

For those residing overseas:

• Those who pursued courses overseas that formed a part of an alliance partnership with the Ministère are now eligible to receive a refundable amount of $1,800 in contrast to the previously given $1,500.

• Those who had opted to join French classes in the span of two years before they were given their Québec selection certificate (CSQ) are currently eligible to receive a refund provided they satisfy certain criteria upon their arrival in the nation.

Process Simplification

• For Overseas Students: They are now eligible to undertake French courses that the Government of Quebec is giving out free of cost and also receive financial aid regardless of the coursework being a compulsory component for completion of their primary study program. The requirement shall be withdrawn stating that the francization program is an eligibility factor for the preliminary study program, or towards the offered qualified training courtesy of which the study permit and CAQ were issued in the first place.

• For Temporary Foreign Workers: They are now eligible to undertake French courses that the Government of Quebec is giving out free of cost and also receive financial aid. In order to be eligible for availing of the services provided by the Francization services of the Government of Quebec, they are no longer required to reproduce their study permit and/or Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ).
