Choosing the right PNP program can be overwhelming. There are many different programs available, and each one has its own unique set of benefits and drawbacks. We will discuss the different types of PNP programs in this blog post and help you decide which one is best for you.
Today, the PNP is a major player in most Canadian provinces and territories in terms of economic immigration. Many Canadian provinces, such as Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, rely on this program to meet their demographic and workforce requirements.
In March 2022, Canada’s provinces issued roughly 5,000 invitations to apply for provincial nomination under the PNP program.
By 2024, PNPs will produce almost 93,000 permanent residents each year.
There are a number of factors that you should consider when choosing the best PNP program for you. These include your work experience, prior education, entrepreneurship/business acumen, and eligibility.
Your work experience is one of the most important factors when choosing a PNP program. You may qualify for a programme that does not require a job offer if you have several years of work experience in a profession that is in demand in your province or territory.
Your education can also factor in choosing the best PNP program for you. If you have a degree from a Canadian institution, you may be eligible for programs that do not require a job offer.
If you have experience running your own business or have strong business acumen, you may be eligible for programs that are designed for entrepreneurs. These programs often have different requirements than other PNP programs.
Each PNP program has its own specific eligibility requirements. Make sure to check the requirements of each program before you apply.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) are programs that allow Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals for immigration to Canada. These programs are designed to help meet the specific economic needs of each province or territory.
There are two types of PNP programs:-
These programs are aligned with the federal Express Entry system. Candidates who are nominated by a province or territory through an Express Entry PNP program receive additional points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which is used to assess and score candidates in the Express Entry Pool.
The Express Entry system is an online application management system used by IRCC to manage applications for three of Canada’s main economic immigration programs:- the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Certain Canadian provinces and territories also use it to send invites under the Provincial Nominee Programs(PNP).
Under the Express Entry system, candidates are assigned a score out of 1200 points based on:- their age, their level of education, their work experience, their language skills in English or French and other factors.
The CRS score is used to rank candidates in the Express Entry pool.
IRCC conducts regular draws from the pool, and invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence are issued to candidates with the highest scores.
If you receive an ITA, you can then apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system.
The Non-Express Entry PNP programs are not aligned with the Express Entry system. This means that candidates who are nominated by a province or territory through a Non-Express Entry PNP program must submit a separate application to IRCC for permanent residence.
In general, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province or territory where you wish to settle. However, the Non-Express Entry PNP application process varies from province to province.
You will then be assessed against the criteria of the Non-Express Entry PNP program. If you meet the criteria, you may be invited to apply for a provincial nomination. Once the province has nominated you, you can then apply to the IRCC for permanent residency.
