Since it's inception in 1923, the IPA has spanned the decades to become the organisation it is today; an innovative organisation focussed on growth for the future based on supporting member needs, providing relevant and quality education, lobbying on important legislative issues and giving members access to specialised products and services tailored to their interests and needs.
Today, over 90 years on, the IPA represents the interests of more than 25,000 members and students across 51 countries and is ranked in the top professional accounting bodies in the world.
With an expansive global focus and full membership of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) acquired in 2005 and Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA ) in 2011, the IPA is working to promote the exchange of knowledge and best practice to build relationships across borders and focus on overseas membership expansion, particularly in Malaysia and China.
The IPA's focus on education and development has also increased in importance over recent years. The IPA offers members and students a complete development pathway from Accountant BAS Agents to Public Accountants, from certificate level to a Diploma in Financial Planning, and through the IPA Program, which leads to the pinnacle of the IPA education program - The Master of Commerce (Professional Accounting). The IPA provides members with a qualification recognised anywhere in the world and equips them with the skills needed for a successful and prosperous career.
