August’s last week witnessed 2 PNP draws held by Alberta

Alberta has announced the plans for two of the year’s most anticipated events.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) had its largest draw to date on August 23, with 450 Express Entry hopefuls receiving invites. CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) scores of at least 300 were required of invited candidates.

Then, on August 30, Alberta staged its largest draw since 2019, with 400 invites going out to Express Entry candidates who scored at least 301 points. Since resuming invitation rounds in January 2021, Alberta has invited 4,007 Express Entry candidates to seek a provincial nomination. In the latter months of 2020, it went on a brief halt. Alberta currently has the capacity to issue 6,250 nomination certificates.

Functioning of the Express Entry system in Alberta

This enhanced the PNP system functions by providing essential permission to the provincial government to scan the federal government’s Express Entry pool of candidates for candidates who might be qualified for a provincial nomination.

The Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program all use Express Entry as their application management system.

You will be given a score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System if you are eligible for Express Entry (CRS). You earn points based on your age, education, work experience, English or French language skills, and other things.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada’s immigration department, holds Express Entry drawings on a regular basis, inviting the top-scoring PR candidates.

It is possible to immigrate without a provincial nomination through the Express Entry system; however, persons with lower CRS scores may choose to apply for a PNP. Provincial nominees receive an automatic 600-point boost to their overall score. If the lowest-scoring candidates in the new Alberta draw are nominated, their new CRS scores will be 901, which will qualify them for an invitation to the next EE draw.

Eligibility Criteria for the Aforementioned Stream

You must have work experience in a relevant occupation to be eligible for a provincial nomination under the Alberta Express Entry stream. The AINP does not provide a list of occupations that are eligible for the stream; instead, it provides a list of occupations that are not.

Foodservice supervisors, transport truck drivers, and cooks are among the jobs available to those who apply under this stream.

Your Express Entry profile should reflect your desire to relocate to Alberta. Certain characteristics, such as work experience or a job offer in Alberta, boost your chances of getting nominated. Canadian education is also beneficial. Having a parent, child, or sibling who is a permanent resident or citizen of Alberta is also a plus.
