British Columbia is one of the key provinces of Canada has announced to extend Tech Pilot Program till next year June.

The technology sector is the major factor of economic growth in the province of British Columbia. BCPNP conducts draws periodically to select IT/Tech professionals from the pool of candidates. Interested candidates have to review the occupation list and nominate accordingly. There are some important changes made by the province for its next term, they are:

  • The BC in-demand occupation list has been reduced to 29 from 32. Based on actual demand of the Tech sector, the program will continue with 29 of these occupations eligible under the pilot. This change allows the program to focus more on the high in-demand occupations.
  • Now, the BCPNP Tech Pilot program has also reduced the eligibility requirement from permanent full-time offer to at least one full year offer (i.e. 365 ). And the job offer should have minimum 120 days remaining at the time of application for BCPNP.

  1. Weekly Invitations :
    • Weekly invitations are issued to applicants who have a valid job offer from the 29 in-demand occupation list.
    • The registration process includes information about the company as the supporting B.C. employer.
  2. Priority Processing :
    • Applications in the 29 technology occupations are prioritized.
    • After the application is complete it is assigned to a dedicated Tech Pilot processing team.
    • Tech Pilot applications are mostly processed in a lesser time frame.
    • Processing time for 80% of applications is less than two-three months from the time it’s received.
