Express Entry CRS falls low to 417 as IRCC invites 6,000 candidates

On Friday, April 16, 2021, Canada held a new Express Entry draw, welcoming candidates with a minimum score of 417 points. It is the second-largest draw in Express Entry’s history.

IRCC issued 6,000 ITA’s for permanent residence who belong to the Canadian Experience Class. In comparison to the previous draw, IRCC sent out 1000 more invitations, and the requirement of scores was 15 points lower.
Candidates with at least 417 points were invited to apply in the last draw. According to the tie-breaker rule, those applicants must have submitted their Express Entry profile by March 1, 2021.
Previous all three largest draw sizes have occurred within the last few months. IRCC has increased draw sizes to overcome the decline in immigration to Canada in 2020. The previous record was 5,000 permanent residence invitations before it was shattered when 27,332 candidates were invited on February 13.
The draw held surprisingly right before a day of the weekend, Express Entry draws are typically held during the week to allow immigration applicants and their representatives to prepare for their permanent residence applications.
In the recent statement, David Cohen said, “IRCC continues to work overtime in 2021. This late-Friday draw shows just how committed they are to achieving their 401,000 newcomers target this year in support of Canada’s economic growth.”
