Regional visas (Australia): Migrants might face deportation if they move to other areas

The new plan of the Australian Government of sending migrant workers to regional areas will help them in faster visa processing. But it will be tough for people seeking to move to a different area than the one which is been designated by the government or for which they have been granted a visa.

As per the Federal Government’s new population plan, the migrants moving under the regional areas will have to stay in the designated areas and will not be allowed to move to another area otherwise their visas will be canceled and might have the risk of being deported.

The government announced a new congestion-busting plan with a funding of $19.4 million that will have migrants willing to settle in the regional areas assigned as per the visas. The visas will be applicable for the work in that particular area, so it will not be possible for anyone (migrants) to go and work anywhere else. The visa will be linked to the specific area and hence moving to another area will not be possible as mentioned by Immigration Minister David Coleman in a COAG meeting at Canberra last week.
