Why is Australia so enticing for immigrants?

Sydney and Melbourne continuously rank among the top 10 cities to live in the world. This high quality of life that Australian cities offer is a major reason for the attraction of immigrants to the country. In recent years the trend has been that prosperous people from middle class and upper middle class of many countries, including India, have migrated to Australia in search for a better quality of life.

So if you are an individual or household who wants to settle in a country that offers you or your family the best quality of life available then Australia is the place to go.

Australia is a high income country with an average per capita income of US$37828 in 2014, according to data from Trading Economics. It is a resource-rich country with some of the biggest iron ore and coal mines in the world.

Recently Australia’s economy slowed down because of economic slowdown in China. China is one of the biggest importers of Australian commodities. The slowdown in China has caused price of commodities such as iron to go down sharply because of lower demand from China for them.

Australia also had a strong automobile manufacturing sector, but this sector has been under severe competitive stress lately. However, the Australian economy will recover once global economic growth picks up. And once economic growth picks, demand for skilled immigrants will also go up.

Australia faces skills shortage in a number of areas. These areas of skill shortage include Engineering, Healthcare, Audiology, Agriculture & Horticulture etc. If you have skills in one of these areas then you have a good chance of getting work visa for Australia. Once you get the work visa, after living and working there for four or five years, you can easily get permanent residency permit.

From the year 2012 onwards Australia launched a,” significant investor,” visa. One can get this visa by committing to invest US$4.6 million (A$ 5 million) in Australia. After fulfilling the investment commitment and living in the country for four years, one can get permanent residency of the country. A number of High Net worth (HNI) individuals, from India and China, took this route, in recent years, for migrating to Australia.
