Australia increased minimum wages for Overseas Students

Australia increased minimum wages for Students

The number of international students has increased in the past few years, there’s a rise of 12% in 2018. Australia has been a major attraction for students because of it’s one of the best education systems and high-quality education which attracts international students the most. Apart from that the scenic beauty and the unspoiled nature is also one of the attractions for foreign education and immigration.

Another reason for choosing Australia as a study destination is that the immigration laws have a provision of the Post Study Work Permit. This helps/allows a student to work full-time after his studies are completed. Allowing him/her to be financially independent.

A hike of 3.5% in the base pay rates has been announced by The Fair Work Commission (FWC). The new minimum wage rate has been set is at AUD$ 18.93 per hour or AUD$ 23.66 for casual workers. This has come to an effect from 1st July 2018.

The international students also have the same rights at the workplace, just like other workers in the Australian workforce and hence it’s a good news for the students. This will not affect the employees who are already getting a higher pay than the new minimum wages.
