The White House states that “A merit-based immigration system” would benefit both immigrants and the nation’s economy. It also believes that the immigration system to be based on the individual’s ability to contribute to America as measured by their education and skills. This kind of system will benefit the Indian professionals too.  Low skilled immigrants into the US has lowered the wages, harmed American workers and the merit-based system would definitely attract the best and the brightest to the US.

Under the present law, 70% of legal immigration is based on family relations, therefore, the US administration called to end the visa lottery program and stop the current practice of awarding green cards without consideration of skills and merit, to ensure a system which is fair and equitable.

Countries, for example, Australia and Canada have a movement framework based on merit. This is helpful to both host countries and the settlers included the announcement.

Mr. Trump told the Republican meeting on Thursday that the Congress now had an opportunity to go into law, the migration changes that the American individuals have been requesting for a considerable length of time and that a large number of them have been dealing with for their whole career.

Almost seven out of 10 Americans support a migration change that incorporates a lasting arrangement on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA. “We want to take care of DACA, and I hope we will, says Mr. Trump. DACA beneficiaries referred as ‘Dreamers’ — individuals who came to the US as kids brought by their parents to the country.
